Enter the player’s height to find a practical starting size for a cricket bat. This calculator prioritises SG’s official height bands and the common Size 0–6, Harrow and Short Handle labels used by Indian bat makers such as SS, DSC, MRF, BDM and SF. Height is more reliable than age alone, but the final choice should still feel controllable in the player’s stance and backlift.

How to check the recommendation

• Use the result as a starting point, then compare the maker’s size label on the exact bat.
• Ask the player to take their normal stance and make a controlled backlift. The bat should not force them to lift the shoulder or lose balance.
• If the player is close to a size boundary, compare both sizes. Choose control and comfortable pickup rather than buying an oversized bat to grow into.
• For adult bats, weight distribution and pickup can matter as much as the printed size.

The junior height bands follow the official SG bat size guide, from Size 0 through Harrow, with Short Handle as the usual adult starting point.
